Redruth’s Buttermarket Teams Up with Comedy Duo for Charity Christmas Single
Cornish comedy rap duo Hedluv and Passman team up with Redruth’s Buttermarket to support St Petrocs
The Buttermarket, Redruth’s newly opened food hall and community events space, has partnered with local comedy rappers Hedluv and Passman to release a festive charity single, raising funds for St Petrocs, a homelessness charity serving Cornwall.
Supporting St Petrocs This Christmas
Proceeds from the single, titled Redruth Christmas, along with additional festive fundraising efforts at the Buttermarket, will go directly to St Petrocs. The organisation, which has been working to end homelessness in Cornwall since 1986, supports more than 2,500 people each year.
Louise Reid, Engagement Manager for St Petrocs, said:
“We were thrilled to hear that we had been chosen as the recipients of the Buttermarket’s fundraising efforts.
The song they’ve created is great fun and distinctly Cornish. We always encourage people to come up with creative ways to raise funds and it’s heartwarming to see so many people donating to help those in need, especially at this time of year.
Every donation is received with enormous thanks and we’d like to thank everyone involved for their efforts – who knows, maybe we have a surprise Christmas number one on our hands!”
A Redruth Festive Collaboration
The single, co-written and produced by Hedluv and Passman, celebrates Christmas in Redruth with lyrical nods to the Buttermarket, Cornwall’s festive traditions, and the duo’s hometown pride. Known for their Casio-style beats and Cornwall-inspired lyrics, Hedluv and Passman jumped at the chance to collaborate on the project.
Jonathan Bray, General Manager at the Buttermarket, said:
“The entire Buttermarket project is about rejuvenating Redruth and putting the town back on the map, all whilst having fun and expressing our Cornish personality along the way, so a Christmas single felt a natural fit to reach as many people as possible and spread some festive cheer!
What better way to demonstrate our pride in our Redruth roots than with two local celebrities lending their musical talents, showcasing the best of the town whilst raising funds for a worthy cause.”
Buttermarket: Revitalising Redruth
The Buttermarket opened in November, marking the completion of a £4 million restoration led by Community Interest Company Redruth Revival. Funded by the National Lottery and Architectural Heritage Fund, the venue now boasts four permanent kitchens, two pop-up kitchens, and a lively events space, supporting local independent businesses and drawing visitors to Redruth.
Download and Support
Redruth Christmas is available for purchase now on Bandcamp, with links provided on the Buttermarket’s social media channels. Every download helps support St Petrocs’ vital work in Cornwall, making this a feel-good way to embrace the festive season while giving back to the community.
Will Redruth claim the Christmas number one spot? Only time will tell, but the Buttermarket and Hedluv and Passman have certainly made their mark this festive season.
