Heartwarming Surprise for Redruth Oddfellows Member
Sandra Chambers, a dedicated member of the Oddfellows Friendship Group in Redruth, received an unexpected surprise during the group’s monthly meeting.
Sandra, who has been tirelessly coordinating contributions for the annual ‘Link to Hope Family and Elderly Shoebox Appeal,’ was presented with a cheque for £60 to aid in transporting 20 shoeboxes filled with essential items to children and families in Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, and Bulgaria.
The funds were raised through the group’s monthly prize raffle. Presenting the cheque, Pete English, Oddfellows District Secretary, highlighted the collective decision by the group members to support Sandra’s charitable efforts. He remarked, “The decision to support Sandra in her charitable efforts was made by all the members of the group and not only have they been making donations of small items but decided that some of the prize raffle money would be a marvellous gift to help pay for the transportation of 20 of the boxes to the families overseas.”
Continued Support and Community Engagement
The group, which meets on the first Tuesday of each month at the Oddfellows Hall in Redruth, has been actively gathering items for the shoebox appeal and will continue to do so until the appeal closes in early November. This heartwarming gesture reflects the strong community spirit and dedication of the Oddfellows Friendship Group members.
Following the presentation, members enjoyed an afternoon of fun with a game of ‘Call My Bluff,’ inspired by the popular TV series. Light refreshments, including cake, chocolate biscuits, and fruit, added to the cheerful atmosphere.
Welcoming New Members
