This Sunday, 21st July, marks a significant milestone for new and expecting parents in Cornwall with the launch of the first-ever Cornwall Baby Show. Held at the picturesque Gwel an Mor Resort in Portreath, the event will be open to the public with free entry from 11 am to 3 pm.

A Marketplace for Baby Products and Services

The Cornwall Baby Show, supported by Cornwall’s Rewind Radio and NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, aims to create a comprehensive marketplace for local traders. Attendees can explore a variety of baby services and products, making it an excellent opportunity for local businesses to showcase their offerings. This event will allow parents to discover new and useful products for their little ones, fostering a supportive community environment.

Health Services by NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly

In collaboration with NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, the show will provide a range of health services. The NHS health team will be on-site to offer:

  • Blood pressure checks
  • Cholesterol testing
  • Weight/BMI assessments
  • Health and vaccination advice
  • Q-risk scoring (evaluating the risk of developing cardiovascular problems over the next ten years)
  • Smoking cessation support

Additionally, the NHS midwifery team will be available to offer specialised advice on pregnancy health, childhood immunisations, and whooping cough vaccinations for pregnant individuals between 16 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. It’s important to note that while general pregnancy advice will be provided, those with specific health concerns are encouraged to contact their local GP.

Community Support and Valuable Resources

Nicola Langridge, Brand Manager, expressed her excitement for the event, highlighting its importance for the local community. “We are thrilled to be organising the first Cornwall Baby Show in support of the NHS. This event is something that Cornwall’s mums-to-be truly need, offering them a chance to access vital health services and discover fantastic local products. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and support one another during such a special time in their lives,” Nicola stated.

Join Rewind Radio and the NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly at Gwel an Mor Resort in Portreath for a day filled with valuable information, community spirit, and support for parents and parents-to-be. The Cornwall Baby Show promises to be an essential event for anyone expecting or with young children, providing a wealth of resources and connections within the community.
