Porthleven Food Festival, a beacon of culinary excellence and celebration in Cornwall has announced a generous donation of £1000 to the Moors Recreation Ground charity, a cherished local space known affectionately as the Moors Field. This vital contribution is set to enhance the land’s drainage and overall upkeep, ensuring the festival’s host community of Porthleven benefits significantly.

The Moors Field, a central hub for the festival’s array of activities, including the Chef’s Theatre, Evening Sessions, and Ann’s Pasty Lounge, not to mention a host of family entertainment, is managed by the local parish council. Despite their commendable efforts, the rising costs have posed significant challenges, making the festival’s donation more crucial than ever.

The festival, presented in partnership with acclaimed chef Jude Kereama, is an annual, award-winning three-day event that draws thousands to the town, celebrating Cornwall’s leading food and drink producers. With a vibrant schedule of chef demos, live music, and family-friendly activities, it aims to promote the local economy, keep Porthleven on the culinary map, and raise awareness on key environmental and sustainable food production issues.

Beyond the donation, the festival organisers are reaching out to the community and festival-goers for additional support. They encourage anyone who can, contribute to this cause, with options to donate via their online ticketing page or in person at the event, where Festival Angels will be ready to accept donations starting from as little as £1. Assurances have been given that 100% of the funds raised will be directly used for the maintenance and improvement of the Moors Field, ensuring its continued status as a pivotal community and festival space.

The Porthleven Food Festival’s commitment to not just celebrating culinary excellence but also to supporting its host community is a testament to its role as a cornerstone of Porthleven’s cultural and community life. It stands as a shining example of how events can play a vital role in fostering community spirit and ensuring the sustainability of cherished local spaces.
