Kevin Dingle Stepping Back After 5 Years Leading Port Isaac RNLI
Change in leadership at Port Isaac lifeboat station
After nearly five years overseeing lifeboat operations at Port Isaac RNLI, Kevin Dingle is stepping aside as Lifeboat Operations Manager. He’s not leaving the station entirely – Kevin will continue his more than 20 years of service as a member of the volunteer crew.
As Operations Manager, Kevin led the station through significant updates to equipment and procedures, including the arrival of a new lifeboat. He also navigated the ongoing challenge of recruiting and training new crew in a small community.
Busy year already for the crew
Since April alone, there have been three emergency call-outs to Trebarwith involving swimmers and a fisherman either swept out to sea or stranded. Kevin has been part of the response to these and many other life-threatening situations, helping protect both locals and visitors.
His dedication runs in the family – his son Olly is also part of the volunteer crew, continuing a tradition shared by many at Port Isaac RNLI.
New Lifeboat Operations Manager
Taking over from Kevin is Steve Andre, who lives near Port Isaac with his wife Dawn. Steve brings leadership experience from across the UK and overseas, along with time spent at sea as a commercial fisherman. He’s also an experienced sailor and diver.
The Port Isaac RNLI team says they’re delighted to welcome Steve and are looking forward to continuing their life-saving work with him on board.
