Pool Academy Students Praised For Standout Performances In Falmouth

Students from Pool Academy made a big impression at this month’s Cornwall Youth Choir Jamboree, held at The Princess Pavilion in Falmouth.

The academy’s choir, part of Athena Learning Trust, performed three songs on the night, with Amelia B and Tally A singled out for their stunning solo performances that left the audience captivated.

Mass choir moment steals the show

A highlight of the evening saw Pool Academy students join over 100 singers from across Cornwall to perform two mass choir songs, creating what organisers described as a powerful and moving sound that filled the iconic venue.

Adding to the excitement, Pool students Lillie-Anne S, Evie E and Kaitlan L were chosen to sing the main solos in For Good, the well-known number from the musical Wicked. With students from across the county taking part in the Jamboree, being picked to lead this song was described as “an incredible honour” and the trio’s performance was “nothing short of outstanding”.

Pride and professionalism

Principal Nick Ward praised the students, saying:

“Our choir truly shone at this incredible event. The dedication, talent, and hard work of our students were evident from start to finish. We are so proud of every student who participated, and we look forward to many more opportunities like this in the future.”

As well as showcasing their musical talent, the Jamboree also gave students the chance to grow personally, adapting to a new environment and representing the school with professionalism beyond their years.

Supporting students to shine

Pool Academy says it is committed to helping every student succeed both in and out of the classroom. With a strong focus on the arts and wider community involvement, the school encourages a love of learning and supports talent across all areas.

The academy’s core values of aspiration, belonging and respect are central to its approach, and Ofsted inspectors have noted the calm, well-planned learning environment and strong pastoral support offered to students.
