Generous Donation Replaces Damaged Flag at Polzeath Marine Centre

Published On: 19 July 2024Last Updated: 19 July 2024By

In a heartwarming show of community spirit, the Polzeath Marine Conservation Group and Centre extends a heartfelt thank you to Wayne Williams, Engineering Manager at Ash Control Systems, for his generous donation of a new flag. This thoughtful contribution comes after the previous flag was damaged in an unfortunate act of vandalism.

A Much-Needed Gift

Wayne Williams, representing the family-owned business based in Penzance, Ash Control Systems, provided a replacement flag that now flies proudly in the Polzeath sunshine. The Marine Conservation Group expressed their gratitude not only to Wayne but also to other community members who offered their support during this challenging time.

Vandalism Strikes Again

Regrettably, the same or similar individuals who damaged the original flag have also caused harm to the guttering at the Marine Centre. This act of vandalism occurred last Saturday night when the perpetrators attempted, unsuccessfully, to reach the newly installed flag. Fortunately, the centre’s dedicated volunteers have managed to repair the damage.

A Call for Protection

Polzeath is known for its positive community vibes, making these acts of vandalism even more disheartening. The Marine Conservation Group hopes that the local Beach Ranger Service and police will work together to protect the centre from future incidents. With limited charitable funds, the centre’s resources are stretched thin, making it crucial to prevent further vandalism.

The Polzeath Marine Conservation Group continues to thrive, thanks to the unwavering support of its volunteers and the generosity of community members like Wayne Williams. As the new flag waves high, it serves as a symbol of resilience and community solidarity in the face of adversity.
