Beached Yacht Rescue: Polzeath Waters Closed After 3pm Today
In Polzeath, visitors and locals are being advised to stay out of the water from 3pm today. The Lifeguards will be enforcing a ‘red flag’ warning to facilitate the delicate re-floating of a beached yacht, which has run aground and requires re-floatation at high tide.
Lifeguard Red Flag Warning
The beach will be red flagged at 3pm, with the Lifeguards taking measures to secure the area, preventing entry to the water for safety reasons. The operation is anticipated to last from around 3.30pm until 5pm. According to the Lifeguards, this is a critical time when the Padstow Harbour Master, along with the yacht’s captain, will attempt to guide the vessel back into deeper waters. This recovery will take place under challenging and potentially hazardous conditions.
Support Requested for Authorities
Those present in Polzeath today are being asked to respect the guidance of Lifeguards, the HM Coastguard, and the Harbour Authority staff as they manage this operation. The public’s cooperation is essential in ensuring the safety of both the vessel’s recovery crew and those onshore.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please adhere to the no-water-entry request after 3pm, and be mindful of the work underway to save the beached yacht.
