Barratt Homes shares top tips for pet-friendly planting in Cornwall

As the RHS Chelsea Flower Show sparks a wave of gardening inspiration this spring, Barratt Homes is encouraging new homeowners across Cornwall to think about their furry friends when planting up their gardens.

Taking a cue from Monty Don’s dog-friendly design featured at this year’s Chelsea, the housebuilder is shining a spotlight on creating outdoor spaces that are both stylish and safe for pets.

Pet-friendly gardens for new homes

Barratt Homes, currently building energy-efficient homes at developments including Pen Bethan in Falmouth and Treledan in Saltash, says more than 60% of UK households now have a pet. With that in mind, it’s sharing advice to help residents across Cornwall create welcoming gardens that work for the whole family – including the four-legged ones.

Andrea Pilgrim, sales director for Barratt Homes, said:
“Pets are a huge part of family life which is why we love to share ideas that help homeowners make the most of their outdoor spaces – without compromising on safety for their animals. These simple planting choices can bring colour and life to a garden while keeping things pet-friendly.”

Andrea added:
“Our homes include turfed gardens, with space for planting beds, outdoor seating, and family enjoyment, so it’s only right we help homeowners make the most of them – especially when it comes to creating safe, welcoming spaces for their pets as well as their families.”
