Perranporth Surf Life Saving Club Announces Successful Installation of Public Access Defibrillator

In a significant community achievement, the Perranporth Surf Life Saving Club has joyfully announced the installation of a new public access defibrillator. This crucial lifesaving equipment is now available for public use, housed within a weatherproof cabinet to ensure its longevity and reliability.

Critical Lifesaving Equipment Reinstated

Following a period of fundraising efforts that began in late last year, Perranporth community has successfully replaced the former defibrillator, which had been rendered inoperable due to environmental wear and tear. The new unit is securely installed on the exterior of the Surf Life Saving Club building, where it is accessible 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Community Effort Brings Life Saving Technology to the Beach

This installation marks a pivotal moment for the local community, as it is the only public access defibrillator available on the beach. The importance of having such accessible medical technology can not be overstated, as it significantly increases the chances of survival in the event of a cardiac emergency.

The funding for this essential project was sourced from generous donations by local individuals and businesses, alongside a dedicated effort by the “Defib Divas”. This group notably organised a carol concert in December, which played a substantial role in raising the necessary funds.

Acknowledgements and Thanks

The Surf Life Saving Club has extended their deepest thanks to everyone who contributed towards the acquisition of the new defibrillator. The community’s proactive efforts and spirit of cooperation were crucial in bringing this project to fruition.

This newly installed defibrillator is a testament to the Perranporth community’s commitment to safety and preparedness. It ensures that both locals and visitors to the beach can feel a little safer, knowing that lifesaving equipment is readily at hand should a critical need arise. The Surf Life Saving Club remains committed to maintaining the readiness of this vital resource and continues to advocate for safety on the beach.
