55 Kilos of Marine Litter Removed in Perranporth Beach Clean – Here’s How Volunteers Made a Difference

Published On: 17 February 2025Last Updated: 17 February 2025By

Over 50 volunteers braved the chilly wind today to take part in Perranporth’s LOVE YOUR BEACH DAY CLEAN, removing a staggering 55 kilos of harmful marine litter from the shoreline.

Part of a County-Wide Effort

The clean-up was part of Love Your Beach 2025, an annual campaign by Cornwall Wildlife Trust encouraging people to show their love for the environment with coastal clean-ups around Valentine’s Day.

On Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th February, beach cleans are set to take place across Cornwall, giving even more people the chance to take action for nature.

Community Steps Up for Cleaner Seas

Organised by Perranporth Marine Conservation Group, the local clean-up saw a strong turnout, with volunteers working together to remove waste from the beach.

Participants were also treated to coffee and biscuits, supplied by Andy Nelson of ‘Making Space for Sand’, as a thank-you for their efforts.

More Opportunities to Get Involved

The next chance to join a clean-up in Perranporth is 22nd March, when the group will be taking part in a Surfers Against Sewage event.

With beaches across Cornwall getting involved in Love Your Beach 2025, the message is clear: spread love, not litter.
