Storm Bert Brings Huge Waves to Penzance: Lifeboat Launches for Training

Penzance faced the full force of Storm Bert on Saturday, 23rd November, with huge waves crashing over the town’s promenade. The storm, accompanied by strong winds and heavy seas, was captured in dramatic images shared by Penzance Council.

Waves Surge Over the Promenade

One photo shows the promenade engulfed by massive waves as the storm’s power swept along the coastline. Such scenes highlight the dramatic impact of severe weather on the town’s popular seafront.

Lifeboat Launch for Training

Ahead of the storm, Penlee Lifeboat released a statement explaining their plans:

“Penlee Severn Class All Weather Lifeboat ‘Ivan Ellen’ will be taking advantage of Storm Bert tomorrow and launching at 10am to give some of the newer crew the experience of being at sea on service in poor weather conditions.”

The launch proceeded as planned, with the lifeboat braving the elements to provide crucial training for the newer crew members, ensuring they are prepared for future emergencies.
