Emergency services team up to offer vital water safety advice

Penzance promenade became a hub of life-saving information on Sunday 6th July as Penzance Water Safety Day brought together a host of emergency services and safety organisations.

Visitors to the seafront were able to meet crews and staff from Penlee Lifeboat, Cornwall Fire and Rescue, HM Coastguard, National Coastwatch Institution, the Police, and the Border Force. Each group shared guidance with the public on how to stay safe in and around the water, whether swimming, boating, fishing or simply paddling at the shore.

Lifeboats on display

Penlee’s two lifeboats were on show as part of the day. The all-weather Severn Class lifeboat Ivan Ellen and the B class Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Mollie and Ivor Dent both took part, offering a closer look at the vessels and the work they do to protect those at sea.

The day offered useful advice for anyone who spends time on or near the water, with a range of organisations working together to help keep people safe along the coast.
