Heartwarming Visit by Mousehole Male Voice Choir to Penlee Lifeboat Station

The Penlee Lifeboat station recently welcomed members of the Mousehole Male Voice Choir, continuing their long-standing association.

The choir, which regularly participates in the annual service of blessing for the boats and crew in Mousehole harbour, visited the station on Saturday, 6th July. This visit precedes their upcoming performance at the service scheduled for Sunday, 8th September 2024.

A Special Day for a Young Fundraiser

Among the visiting group was Stephen Lawry, the Musical Director of the choir, accompanied by his six-year-old granddaughter, Seren. Seren has shown remarkable dedication to supporting the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) by participating in a sponsored fundraising event. She ran a mile every day throughout May, raising an impressive £155 for the cause.

Recognition and Gifts

In recognition of her efforts, Seren had already received a medal from the RNLI. During the visit, she received an additional token of appreciation from the Penlee station. Coxswain Patch Harvey presented Seren with a knitted lifeboatman doll, a gesture that added to her pride and joy.

Trying on Lifeboat Gear

The tour included a visit to the crew changing facilities, where Stephen Lawry was persuaded to try on the kit worn by crew members of the All-weather Lifeboat (ALB). Seren joined in the fun, posing in children’s gear from the station’s Exhibition room, creating a memorable photo opportunity.

This visit not only reinforced the bond between the Mousehole Male Voice Choir and the Penlee Lifeboat station but also highlighted the extraordinary efforts of a young supporter dedicated to helping the RNLI.
