Farewell to Pager Duty: Penlee Lifeboat’s Mechanic Takes on National Trauma Role
A New Role for Tony Rendle
Tony Rendle, the mechanic at Penlee Lifeboat Station, is stepping away from his day-to-day role to embark on a new and exciting venture. Tony has been seconded to TRIM (Trauma Risk Management) as a delivery manager for the RNLI. Over the next six months, he will travel across the UK and Ireland, leading a team of volunteers to roll out training aimed at addressing trauma before it occurs.
Staying Connected to Penlee
Although Tony will focus on his new position, he won’t be saying goodbye to Penlee entirely. After his first intense month in the role, he will resume pager duties as a volunteer crewman, while still being based at home.
Temporary Changes at Penlee Lifeboat Station
To cover Tony’s departure, the mechanic position at Penlee will temporarily be shared among four current crew members. The team at Penlee expressed their best wishes for Tony, describing him as a much-valued member of their family.
Tony’s new role highlights the RNLI’s commitment to supporting their crew and volunteers with essential training to manage the challenges they face.
