Live music fans in Cornwall are in for a treat on Thursday 23rd January as The Acorn Theatre in Penzance welcomes a night of blues and soul featuring the Stompin’ Dave Electric Duo and Adam Sweet.

A Blues Powerhouse: Stompin’ Dave and Lucy Piper

Renowned for his exhilarating live performances, Stompin’ Dave has built a reputation as one of the most entertaining figures in the music scene today. In 2024, Dave’s talents earned him a nomination for a UK Blues Award.

A former member of the UK Blues Band of the Year, The Producers, Dave’s commitment to live music is evident in his relentless touring schedule, delivering over 100 performances annually at major festivals and venues across the UK and beyond. His songwriting draws deep from the well of American roots music, creating what Blues Matters described as “real, modern, and relevant” sounds that deserve to be heard live.

Partnering with Dave is Lucy Piper, celebrated by The Guardian as “one of the UK’s leading blues drummers”. Lucy’s impressive career includes working with double Grammy Award-winning label Ruf Records on their Blues Caravan tours in 2019 and 2020. She also featured on Ryan Perry’s album High Risk, Low Reward, which was nominated for a Blues Music Award in 2020.

Since forming their electric duo in 2022, Dave and Lucy have performed extensively, releasing four albums together. Their sound has been praised by Blues In Britain for its authenticity and richness, with comparisons to some of the best blues albums.

Adam Sweet’s Acoustic Set

Adam Sweet, an Exeter-based artist known for his brooding blues and roots-inspired rock, will deliver a solo acoustic set during the night. Adam’s performances feature a blend of rich songwriting, soulful vocals, and expert guitar work.

Having first taken to the stage at just 15 years old, Adam has established himself as a consummate performer. In 2023, his band was crowned Introducing Stage Winners at The Great British Rock and Blues Festival, a pivotal achievement that led to appearances at prestigious venues such as London’s 100 Club and support slots with Wishbone Ash and Elles Bailey.

In 2024, Adam’s band released Live at Crescent Records. The accompanying YouTube series quickly gained popularity, amassing over 80,000 views within the first few months.
