Par Beach: Horse Rider Injured in High Velocity Fall From Horse

Published On: 30 July 2024Last Updated: 30 July 2024By

On the evening of 29th July 2024, at approximately 18:38, the St Austell Coastguard team was urgently dispatched to Par Beach following reports of a rider who had fallen from a horse with significant force. The team promptly assembled at a designated rendezvous point and swiftly made contact with the injured rider to commence immediate casualty care.

Ensuring Safety and Stability

The family of the fallen rider had efficiently managed to secure and remove all horses from the scene, significantly enhancing the safety of the working environment for the coastguard team. Despite this, the urgency of the situation was compounded by the imminent threat of an incoming tide, making timely extraction of the casualty imperative.

Coordinated Medical Efforts

In light of the severe nature of the injury, a request was made to the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. However, the coastguard team faced an additional challenge as no estimated time of arrival for an ambulance was available. Acting under clinical guidance, the team prepared the casualty for extraction via stretcher due to the critical nature of the injury.

Successful Extraction and Transport

Fortuitously, the ambulance crew arrived on the scene just in time to assist with the extraction. Under their professional guidance, a long but steady and secure extraction was carried out across the sandy terrain back to the car park, where the ambulance awaited.

The St Austell Coastguard extends its wishes for a full and speedy recovery to the injured rider and expresses gratitude to the rider’s family for their patience and invaluable assistance during the operation.

Emergency Contact Reminder

In light of this incident, the coastguard reminds everyone of the importance of calling 999 and asking for the coastguard in any coastal emergency.
