Padstow RNLI Pays Tribute to President Peter Prideaux-Brune
Padstow RNLI mourns a respected leader and lifelong supporter
Padstow RNLI has announced the passing of its President, Peter Prideaux-Brune, describing the news as a sudden and deeply felt loss for the station and wider community.
Peter was part of the Prideaux-Brune family, who have supported Padstow lifeboat and crew since its very beginning. Known for his generosity of spirit, Peter regularly praised the volunteer lifeboat crew, calling them “the best of the best.”
A legacy of support
Just last year, as part of the RNLI’s 200th anniversary celebrations, Peter and his family opened the grounds of Prideaux Place to host a special event. Around 1,700 people attended the evening of entertainment, which raised an impressive £44,000 for the charity.
During the celebration, Peter was presented with a long service medal in recognition of his dedication to the lifeboat station.
Remembering Peter
Padstow RNLI Chairman John Stephens paid tribute, saying:
“Peter, a lifelong supporter of Padstow Lifeboat, was the first to personally praise the volunteer crew for their dedication and heroism, which was always so warmly appreciated. A sudden loss, but we have long memories and he will be sorely missed.”
Coxswain Richard Pitman added:
“Our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Peter Prideaux-Brune. This is a huge loss to our community. Our station’s flag is currently flying at half-mast.”
The tradition continues
Peter’s son, Nicholas Prideaux-Brune, will now take on the role of President, continuing the family’s long-standing connection with Padstow RNLI.
Peter’s impact on the lifeboat station will be remembered for years to come.
