Medical Emergency at Sea: Padstow RNLI Evacuates Crew Member
Padstow RNLI volunteer crew successfully evacuated an unwell crew member from a survey vessel off the coast of Cornwall.
Emergency Call to Action
On Tuesday, 9 July, at 5.20pm, the Padstow RNLI received an urgent report of an unwell crew member aboard the Fugro Searcher. The survey vessel was situated 24 miles north of Trevose, a considerable distance from the shore.
Swift Response by Padstow Lifeboat Crew
Responding promptly, the Padstow RNLI launched their lifeboat and navigated to the Fugro Searcher’s location. Upon arrival, the lifeboat crew efficiently transferred the ailing crew member onto their vessel. The swift and coordinated efforts of the RNLI volunteers ensured the safety and well-being of the casualty.
Safe Transport to Hospital
Once the unwell crew member was secured onboard the Padstow lifeboat, they were transported back to the lifeboat station. From there, arrangements were made for the individual’s onward travel to a hospital for further medical treatment.
