Trelawny Scanning Suite and Lowen Ward Project Shines at Michelmores Property Awards
A remarkable building project by the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) has clinched its second accolade of the year. The new Trelawny Scanning Suite and Lowen Ward project, located in Truro, has been honoured with the prestigious Project of the Year (over £5m) award at the Michelmores Property Awards.
Earlier this year, the project had already garnered attention by winning the top structural award at the Concrete Society Southwest Regional Awards in February. This recent triumph at the Michelmores Property Awards highlights the project’s significant contribution to healthcare infrastructure in Cornwall.
Roberta Fuller, Associate Director of Major Capital Projects at RCHT, expressed her delight at the project’s success. “We are absolutely delighted to win another award for our state-of-the-art Trelawny Scanning Suite and Lowen Ward project. This incredible new building provides improved scanning facilities and increased bed capacity for some of our most vulnerable patients. This is another excellent example of how our hospital in Truro is transforming to provide an exceptional environment for both patients and staff. Sincere thanks are due to Lewis Saundry, RCHT Project Manager for all his hard work; our construction partner BAM, and everyone involved in this project.”
Celebrating Excellence in Construction
The Michelmores Property Awards are renowned for celebrating the best in property, development, and construction projects in the southwest of England. Recognised as one of the most prestigious regional awards in the construction industry, the event saw over 400 guests but only 11 winners. The awards ceremony took place at the Sandy Park Conference Centre in Exeter on Thursday, 27 June 2024.
The Trelawny Scanning Suite and Lowen Ward project, a significant undertaking with a budget exceeding £5 million, has been acknowledged for its innovative design and impactful contribution to healthcare services. The project enhances the hospital’s capacity to serve patients with improved scanning facilities and additional bed space, particularly benefiting the most vulnerable.
Future Recognition on the Horizon
The success of the Trelawny Scanning Suite and Lowen Ward project may not end here. It has been shortlisted for two more prestigious awards: the national Construction News Awards and the Constructing Excellence Southwest Awards. Both awards are set to be announced in July, and anticipation is high for further recognition of this exemplary project.
The continued accolades for the Trelawny Scanning Suite and Lowen Ward underscore the commitment of the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust to advancing healthcare infrastructure. The project’s success serves as an inspiring model for future developments in the region, demonstrating the positive impact of well-executed construction projects on community health services.
