Discover Cornwall’s Free Summer Wellbeing Festivals: Fun for All Ages!

Published On: 2 August 2024Last Updated: 2 August 2024By

This summer, Cornwall is set to host a series of wellbeing festivals that promise to be both fun and beneficial for people of all ages. Organised by NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board, Healthy Cornwall, and various commuhnity partners, these events are completely free to attend. The festivals are part of the new Healthier Together campaign and will be held at different locations across Cornwall, offering a variety of activities, health checks, and entertainment.

What to Expect at the Festivals

The first two festivals kick off this Saturday, 3 August, with events at the Parkhouse Centre in Bude and Redruth Rugby Club. Running from 11am to 3pm, the Bude festival will feature a range of engaging activities, including exercise demonstrations, a scarf juggling workshop, and opportunities to try folk art and jewellery making. For families, there will be stalls, games, free face painting, and a performance by Magic Martin. Visitors can also enjoy mini beauty treatments and get health checks from the NHS, along with advice on local health and wellbeing support.

At the same time, Redruth will be buzzing with its own festival, running from 10am to 3pm at the Redruth Rugby Club and CN4C at The Elms. Attendees can participate in sports, craft activities, and even try their hand at the traditional coconut shy. Like in Bude, there will be taster sessions, NHS health checks, and a variety of stalls offering information and advice on how to stay healthy and active.

Upcoming Festivals Across Cornwall

The festival fun continues on Friday, 9 August, in Penzance at Humphry Davy School and Trelya, from 2pm to 7pm. This event will offer a unique mix of activities including archery, singing, yoga, and dancing, alongside modern technology experiences like VR, coding, and robotics workshops. Attendees can enjoy a free bite to eat, take part in taster sessions, and benefit from NHS health checks and wellbeing advice.

Further festivals are scheduled throughout August and September at various locations:

  • St Austell’s Poltair Park and CN4C at the One and All Bank on Saturday, 17 August, from 10am to 3pm
  • Launceston Town Hall on Saturday, 17 August, from 11am to 3pm
