Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Health Authorities Seek Public Feedback on Pelvic Health Care

Published On: 17 January 2024Last Updated: 17 January 2024By

In a move to enhance maternal health care, the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust is spearheading an initiative to improve pelvic health services for women during and after pregnancy. Focusing on Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, this survey invites the public to share their experiences and suggestions for better care.

Pelvic health issues can include a range of conditions such as leaking of urine (pee) and/or stool (poo), prolapse (bulging or swelling), injuries and infection in the area between the vagina and anus, pelvic girdle pain (pain in the pelvic area and/or back) and abdominal rectus diastasis (tummy muscle separation).. Recognising the impact of these conditions on a woman’s quality of life, the Trust is taking proactive steps to address these critical areas.

Confidentiality and privacy are paramount in this initiative. The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust assures that all collected data will be used exclusively for service improvement and will be handled in a manner that maintains individual anonymity.

This call for feedback emphasises the importance of patient-centred approaches in medical service development. The survey results are expected to guide the Trust in making informed, impactful changes to pelvic health care services, ultimately improving the post-pregnancy care experience for women in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
