Surfer in Trouble at North Fistral: RNLI Responds to the Rescue
Newquay’s RNLI lifeboat volunteers were called into action at 5.18pm on Saturday, 15th February, following a 999 call reporting a surfer in difficulty at North Fistral.
Swift Response in Fading Light
The crew launched the charity’s Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat into a moderate offshore breeze and diminishing daylight, reaching North Fistral within five minutes of launching. Upon arrival, members of Newquay Coastguard Search & Rescue Team confirmed that the longboard surfer had safely made it back to shore with the help of members of the public.
Lifeboat Crew Stood Down
With the surfer confirmed safe and well, the RNLI crew were stood down at 5.44pm. The lifeboat was rehoused and ready for service back at Newquay Harbour by 6.05pm.
If you see anyone in trouble at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
