Newquay Tretherras Strike Gains Momentum: Teachers Stand Firm on Day One
Strong Turnout on the First Day
Teachers at Newquay Tretherras took to the picket lines on Wednesday as part of an NEU strike, with over 50 supporters gathering in the morning. The strike, set to continue on Thursday, saw strong backing from parents and the wider public. Food was delivered by parents, and messages of solidarity were sent by National Executive members.
Community Support and Unwavering Spirits
The first day of action was met with enthusiastic support, with teachers and their backers described as being “in great voice.” The level of community backing highlights the strength of feeling around the dispute.
No Talks Yet as Strike Continues
Despite the clear support for the teachers, there have been no signs of discussions to resolve the situation. The NEU has stated it is ready to talk at any moment, but until negotiations begin, the strike appears to be gaining momentum.
With no resolution in sight, all eyes will be on the second day of action on Thursday to see how events unfold.
