In commemoration of two centuries dedicated to saving lives at sea, the volunteers at Newquay RNLI Lifeboats have organised a series of fundraising events starting over the Easter holidays.

These events aim to support the vital services provided by the lifeboat crews.

  • Coffee Morning: On Saturday, 23rd March, a Coffee Morning will take place at the Hotel Victoria from 10 am to 12 noon. For an entry fee of £3, attendees will enjoy tea, coffee, and biscuits. Highlighting the event, “The Joshua,” a replica of the first Newquay lifeboat from 1860, will be displayed outside the hotel, offering visitors a unique glimpse into the past.
  • Easter Egg Hunt: A family-friendly Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for Sunday, 31st March, at Newquay Harbour. Entry forms are available at the RNLI shop by the harbour for a £2 fee. Children who submit a completed entry by 2 pm will be rewarded with an Easter Egg, and accompanying adults will receive a drinks voucher for the Boathouse Restaurant, which is sponsoring the event.
  • RNLI Shop Season Opening: The RNLI shop, located adjacent to the lifeboat station in the harbour, will reopen for the season on Sunday, 24th March. The shop will be open daily from 10 am to 4 pm, offering a variety of merchandise to support the RNLI’s efforts.
  • Boathouse Visits: Starting Monday, 25th March, the boathouse will be open to visitors. The visiting hours will depend on the weather and the availability of volunteers, providing an opportunity for the public to learn more about the life-saving operations of the RNLI.
  • Teddy Appeal: The RNLI is calling for donations of teddies and other cuddly toys for their popular teddy stall, manned by RNLI volunteers at various events throughout the year. Donations of pre-loved teddies with the CE label can be taken to the RNLI shop at the harbour.

These events not only celebrate the RNLI’s longstanding commitment to saving lives at sea but also aim to raise funds and awareness for the essential services provided by the volunteer lifeboat crews.
