Miracle on Fore Street: Newquay’s Festive Extravaganza Returns Bigger and Better!
Newquay is set to dazzle this Christmas as the much-loved Miracle on Fore Street returns on Sunday, 22nd December, from midday to 9pm. This festive celebration promises to bring the community together for a day brimming with seasonal joy, last-minute gifting, and family-friendly activities, all while supporting a good cause.
Visitors to Fore Street can look forward to a Christmas Street Market featuring local treasures, seasonal eats, and fresh produce for festive feasting. A bar serving local tipples, a full line-up of live music, and free family activities hosted by Fore Street businesses add to the magic of the day. Funds raised will go towards helping Newquay Boardriders attend the World Club Challenge in Snapper, Australia.
A Growing Tradition with Community Spirit at Its Heart
Rebecca Williams of Milk Cafe, who co-organised the event with Simon Thompson from Fore Street Cafe, shared the inspiration behind the celebration:
“Last year myself and Simon Thompson, from Fore Street Cafe, created this event to bring the community Christmas spirit to Fore Street. Our aim was to put Newquay on the map for places to visit at Christmas and celebrate the wonderful place that Fore Street is. It was a great success, and this year Miracle on Fore Street is back bigger and better with support from our event partners. The more glitter and tinsel, the better.”
Event Highlights and Activities
The day will feature a variety of free activities for families:
- A kids’ disco at The Fort Inn.
- Meet Santa and enjoy kids’ Christmas crafts at Belushi’s.
- A festive printmaking workshop at Box & Barber.
- A flower demo at Coastal Flowers.
- Storytelling at Fore Street Cafe.
In addition, the Newquay Rowing Club Singers will make a festive appearance at Milk Cafe.
A Market to Remember
This year’s Christmas Street Market is organised by Cornwall Shop Small and Newquay Farmers Market, with infrastructure provided by Newquay BID. Sarah Curley from Cornwall Shop Small said:
“We’re using our collective power to put on an unmissable street market and one of your last chances to shop small and local this Christmas. Featuring an array of locally created and curated wares perfect for Christmas gifting. Expect colourful prints, locally made ceramics as well as seasonal fashion and accessories with sustainability at heart.”
Caroline Hinks from Newquay Farmers Market added:
“It’s a real pleasure to be involved in such a community-focused event. You’ll be able to stock up on fresh fish and shellfish, locally raised meat, seasonal veg, cheeses, and more to bring the freshest festive food to your tables this Christmas.”
Live Music and Local Delights
A festive bar, local seasonal street food, and in-business menu specials will complement the day, alongside a programme of live music featuring acts like The Clams, Joe Hurworth, Steve Panter, C Bird Singers, and the Soulful House Choir.
Rebecca, reflecting on the event’s purpose, emphasised its importance for the community:
“We wanted to create festive feels for all the locals to get involved in and to help support a local community project or charity. Last year we raised funds for Newquay Food Bank, and this year we’re proud to be supporting Newquay Boardriders, raising funds to help them attend the World Club Challenge out at Snapper, Australia! We can’t wait to welcome you to a magical Miracle on Fore Street.”
Make It a Day to Remember
