Massive Firework Display in Newquay to Support Community Projects

WAX Gym to Donate Ticket Profits to Local Causes

WAX Gym at Newquay Sports Centre is gearing up for one of the town’s biggest firework events, with tickets now available for their annual display on 2nd November. This family-friendly evening will feature a dazzling firework show, a variety of local street food vendors, an inflatable funfair, and live music from the popular band, The Land Of The Giants. All ticket profits from the event will be reinvested into supporting the local community.

Supporting Local Projects

Last year, NQY Fireworks raised £16,274, which was pledged by WAX Gym to fund a range of community projects. These included sponsoring the Easter Bunny’s visit to Newquay Primary School, providing essential school supplies to all students at Newquay Tretherras School, and offering a full year of free weekly women’s self-defence classes to any Cornish resident.

In addition, the funds supported free Men’s Mental Health Survival School programs, sponsorship for six local sports teams, and backing for over 20 independent athletes.

Steve Brown from Combat Athletics Academy, who runs the free women’s self-defence classes, highlighted the impact of these sessions on attendees. One participant, who has cerebral palsy, shared how the classes have not only boosted her confidence but also improved her mobility.

Looking Ahead

This year’s event promises to be even more impactful, with all profits set to fund new community projects and continue vital support programs. WAX Gym has already committed to continue financing the popular free weekly women’s self-defence classes throughout 2025.
