Dive Back into Fun: Newquay Leisure Pool Reopens to Splashing Success

After a winter hiatus, Newquay Leisure Pool has reopened its doors to enthusiastic visitors, marking a successful return just in time for Easter.

Operated by GLL under the Better brand, the pool’s reopening has been met with joy from both children and adults eager to enjoy its flumes and aquatic attractions.

A Welcome Return

The leisure pool had been placed in hibernation over the winter months as a cost-saving measure to combat rising energy expenses. Now, with the facility fully operational again, the staff are preparing for a bustling May half term. Amelia Kitchen, Senior Manager at GLL, expressed her delight at seeing families enjoying the pool once more.

“It’s been lovely to see families having a good time in there,” said Amelia Kitchen. “I’m really proud of the team who worked so hard to get it all up and running and grateful to everyone who has supported us since the pool reopened by coming along and having a splashing time.”

GLL’s Commitment to Community Well-being

GLL, the charitable social enterprise managing Newquay Leisure World on behalf of Cornwall Council, operates as a not-for-profit workers cooperative. Amelia highlighted the organisation’s dedication to enhancing the physical, mental, and social well-being of the local community, despite the challenges posed by the cost of living.

“The cost of living has affected us all, but as an organisation, we believe leisure centres provide a vital service that needs to be preserved,” she said. “To that end, cost-saving measures like closing our fun pool over the winter had to be introduced.”
