Could Your Business Help Save Newquay’s Nature? New Campaign Calls for Local Support
Businesses in and around Newquay are being urged to get behind local nature projects as part of a new Cornwall Council and Crowdfunder campaign.
Four Projects Already Highlighted
The campaign, called Love Where You Are: Saints Coast 2025, aims to encourage businesses in the Saints Coast area to donate to community-based nature recovery projects. This year, four projects have already been spotlighted, including setting up beach clean-up stations and planting trees.
Each year, Love Where You Are will focus on a different area of Cornwall, promoting a new set of local nature projects for support.
A Call to Action from Cornwall Council
Cllr Leigh Frost, leader of Cornwall Council, is calling on local businesses to get involved and help shape greener communities.
“We’re calling on businesses to play a pivotal part in supporting nature projects that benefit their communities,” said Leigh. “This could be creating or enhancing local green spaces, distributing free trees or setting up litter-picking stations.
“This is a chance for you to showcase your values and build stronger connections with your community. Love Where You Are empowers businesses and communities to grow side by side by investing in nature, people and a more sustainable Cornwall.”
Backed by Crowdfunder and DEFRA
The campaign is being run in partnership with Crowdfunder, who also operate Projects For Nature, a national effort supported by DEFRA that helps businesses invest in environmental schemes.
Dawn Bébe, founder of Crowdfunder, said:
“Crowdfunder see thousands of environmental projects add to the platform every year aiming to protect nature and environment and have launched Projects For Nature, a national campaign to encourage businesses to invest in nature, supported by DEFRA.
“We’re therefore delighted to work with Cornwall Council to launch a local version, Love Where You Are Cornwall, helping local businesses invest in nature projects that matter to them in and around the Newquay area to help innovation thrive and support its stunning coast scape.”
