Cliff Collapse Alert at Great Western Beach: Visitors Urged to Stay Away From The Base Of Any Cliffs
A section of the cliff near Great Western Beach in Newquay collapsed on Thursday, 12th September 2024, leading to warnings from the coastguard. Authorities are concerned about the potential for further cliff falls and are urging the public to stay away from the area.
Stay Safe Along the Coast
Newquay Coastguard Search & Rescue Team has advised anyone visiting the beach to avoid the base of any cliffs. The recent collapse is a reminder of the unpredictable nature of the Cornish coastline, and people are being encouraged to prioritise safety.
If there are any signs of further collapses, the public is asked to report them to both Newquay Coastguard and RNLI Lifeguards Newquay.
Report Emergencies
If you see someone in difficulty along the coast, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard. The Newquay Coastguard team continues to stress the importance of acting swiftly in emergencies.
