Farewell Tour for Cornwall’s 50-Strong Male Choir – Men Are Singing Hits the Road
Cornwall’s groundbreaking alternative male voice choir, Men Are Singing, is embarking on a special farewell tour this autumn, with performances lined up from Bristol to St Just. This 50-man strong choir, known for its eclectic mix of covers and original compositions, will perform six shows as part of its final send-off.
A Social Art Project Turned Chorus
Men Are Singing was created six years ago by artist and composer Seamas Carey as an inquiry into why younger men weren’t joining traditional choirs. Since then, it has evolved into a dynamic group, headlining festivals and creating new traditions with performances filled with both humour and emotional depth.
Seamas describes this final tour as “a theatrical, spirit-raising and moving exploration of what it means to be a man, and how to embrace an ending together.” The show promises to share the choir’s love of singing, aiming to uplift audiences with a message of vulnerability, humour, and positive masculinity.

A limited-edition print by local artist and choir member Matt Johnson will also be available.
Leaving a Legacy
While this tour marks the end of Men Are Singing, the group is determined to leave a lasting legacy. Seamas explains that part of their farewell is to create a blueprint for future choirs. The choir wants to inspire others to start their own groups, continuing the tradition of singing together.
Choir member Henry Emmett shared how the project started as a social experiment, aimed at encouraging younger men to join by shaking up the traditional format of male choirs. Since its inception in 2018, over 150 men have been part of the choir, forming a community centred around care, sensitivity, and positivity.
Peter Lefort, another choir member, adds that this final chapter is not just a celebration of their successes, but also an opportunity to reflect on their journey and what it means to “end well.” As the tour winds down, the choir hopes to inspire future generations to take up the mantle and continue the joy of singing together.
