Woman Dies After Serious Road Traffic Collision in Meaver Road, Child in Serious Life-Threatening Condition
In a tragic update, a woman has died following a serious road traffic collision that occurred on Monday, 14 October, on Meaver Road, Mullion. Devon & Cornwall Police confirmed the incident, which involved a silver Vauxhall Astra and a double-decker school bus on the B3296.
Fatal Injuries Reported
The collision, which took place around 8.40 am, left both occupants of the Vauxhall with life-threatening injuries. A local woman in her 30s and a young boy were taken to hospital immediately following the incident. Tragically, the woman has since passed away in hospital, while the child remains in a serious condition at Bristol Children’s Hospital. Police confirmed that the next of kin are aware of the situation.
School Bus Incident
The school bus involved in the collision was carrying 27 children at the time of the incident. While most of the children sustained minor injuries, one child from the bus suffered serious injuries, though fortunately, these are not life-threatening.
Investigation Ongoing
Officers from the Roads Policing Team were present at the scene, conducting thorough investigations. Sergeant Phil Brown from the Serious Collisions Investigation Team said, “We are working in conjunction with the school and our partners to ensure everybody receives the support they need following this tragic incident. Our thoughts continue to be with everybody involved.”
