In a dramatic turn during a routine exercise, The Lizard RNLI Lifeboat was diverted to assist a person in the water at Polurrian Cove, Mullion, on Sunday 12th January. The incident occurred at 11:20am, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
Emergency Tasking Mid-Training
The Lizard Lifeboat crew had been wrapping up their training session when they received the urgent call. Alongside them, the inshore lifeboat from Penlee Lifeboat Station and Coastguard Helicopter 924 were also deployed to the scene.
Coastguard Takes Control
By 11:35am, all responding teams, including the lifeboat, were stood down after confirmation that the casualty was safely with HM Coastguard personnel onshore.
Back to Base
With the situation under control, the lifeboat crew completed their training exercise and returned to the station shortly after 12 noon. By 1pm, the vessel was rehoused, refuelled, and prepared for future callouts.
