St Austell Brewery Expands Its Managed Pub Estate
St Austell Brewery has taken over the lease of The Godolphin in Marazion, adding the seafront venue to its growing portfolio of managed pubs. The much-loved pub, known for its stunning views across to St Michael’s Mount, is now part of the brewery’s 46-strong estate.
The lease agreement has been made between St Austell Brewery and St Aubyn Estates, with staff at The Godolphin staying on under the new management.
Andrew Turner, Chief Operating Officer of St Austell Brewery, said:
“We are delighted to welcome The Godolphin and all the team into our managed pub estate. As a family business, we are passionate about operating the region’s very best pubs and The Godolphin is an exciting addition. The Godolphin is an important part of the local community as well as a favourite for the many visitors to the area, and we are looking forward to building on its reputation.”
St Austell Brewery Strengthens Its Presence in West Cornwall
This latest acquisition follows St Austell Brewery’s recent announcement of a major investment at the Pedn Olva in St Ives.
Andrew added:
“This acquisition builds on the strong momentum we have in our managed pubs and follows the recent announcement about the transformative investment at the Pedn Olva in St Ives. This level of investment further demonstrates our commitment to West Cornwall and the Cornish hospitality economy more broadly.”
Felix St Aubyn, Chief Executive of St Aubyn Estates, also welcomed the change, saying:
“We’re delighted St Austell Brewery is taking over The Godolphin, an iconic Cornish venue, that will continue to flourish under their care.
“I am very optimistic that this partnership, between two Cornish family businesses, will secure a bright future for The Godolphin for all those who know and love it.”
A New Chapter for The Godolphin
St Austell Brewery will bring its award-winning hospitality expertise to The Godolphin, continuing to serve its range of beers while working with top local food suppliers. The menu will be refined in the coming months to highlight the best of Cornwall’s produce.
The Godolphin offers a 120-cover indoor dining space, 10 guest bedrooms, and an outdoor terrace with panoramic sea views. With its prime location and fresh direction under St Austell Brewery, the venue looks set for an exciting future.
