Something Special Is Happening in the Looe Valleys This April – Here’s What You Need to Know
The East and West Looe Valleys are set to burst into life this April with We Are of This Place, a month-long celebration of culture, creativity, and community.
Running across both Liskeard and Looe, the festival explores the deep connections between people, history, and the landscape through a packed programme of exhibitions, performances, walks, and hands-on activities.
Blossom Liskeard: Arts, Crafts and Cornwall Spirit
One of the key highlights is Blossom Liskeard, an Arts and Crafts Exhibition and Sale taking place on Saturday 12th April, from 12pm to 4pm at Liskeard Public Hall.
Local artists and makers will showcase handcrafted pieces inspired by the spirit of Cornwall – from paintings and textiles to ceramics and woodwork. It’s a chance to discover unique floral-themed work and support local creativity.
Mad Hatters Market and More
On the same day, the Mad Hatters Local Produce Market adds to the excitement with a mix of local produce, entertainment from Catseye Morris, drama from Sterts Theatre, a tea party, and Easter bonnets.
Film Screening: 6 Inches of Soil
Head to St Keyne Village Hall on Friday 11th April from 7pm for a free screening of 6 Inches of Soil, a nationally renowned film that tells the story of British farmers challenging the industrial food system. The film will be followed by an expert panel discussion, offering deeper insight into sustainable food and farming.
Family Fun with Piskey Puppets
Children can enjoy the free Piskey Path Puppet Show at Liskeard & District Museum on Monday 7th April at 11am, presented by Mazed Tales. It’s a fun and imaginative way for young visitors to connect with Cornish folklore.
Help Clean Up the Coast
Join the community for a Beach Clean at Hannafore on Saturday 13th April, from 12pm to 1.30pm. All equipment is provided, and everyone is welcome to get involved in helping protect this stunning stretch of coastline.
A Festival for Everyone
In addition to these main events, We Are of This Place will feature guided walks, storytelling sessions, live performances, and hands-on workshops throughout the month. Whether you’re a resident or visiting the area, the festival offers plenty to enjoy and discover.
