Cornish Lithium Announces Board Changes and Welcomes New Director Amid Strategic Shifts
Cornish Lithium, a trailblazer in mineral exploration and development, has announced significant changes to its leadership team, signalling a new phase in its journey towards pioneering mineral projects.
The company disclosed that Ian Cockerill, who has been serving as the Independent Non-Executive Chairman, is stepping down following his new appointment as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director at Endeavour Mining Plc. Jeremy Wrathall, the Founder and CEO of Cornish Lithium, will temporarily take over the role of Chairman. This interim arrangement will remain in effect until the company appoints a new Independent Non-Executive Chair, with the search for a suitable candidate expected to begin shortly.
In a strategic addition to its board, Cornish Lithium is pleased to announce that Keith Liddell has rejoined as a Non-Executive Director. Liddell, who previously served as a director of the company, returns with a rich background in mineral extraction techniques and global mineral project management. His reappointment is poised to strengthen the company’s expertise as it moves forward with its innovative projects.
Jeremy Wrathall expressed his gratitude to Ian Cockerill for his invaluable leadership and guidance over the past two years, a period marked by significant achievements including the securing of a landmark financing package. Wrathall also emphasised the importance of Liddell’s return, highlighting his operational and metallurgical experience as critical to the company’s upcoming ventures. This includes commissioning the demonstration plant at Trelavour and finalising the process flow sheet for its geothermal projects.
Ian Cockerill, reflecting on his tenure, praised Cornish Lithium’s remarkable progress and expressed his enthusiasm for the company’s future as he transitions to his new role. He remains optimistic about the company’s direction and its capacity to realise its potential following a successful financing round last summer.
Keith Liddell’s diverse experience in the mineral industry, spanning several decades, includes significant contributions to the development and management of resource companies. As the Chairman of NYSE Listed Lifezone Metals Ltd and the inventor of the Kell Process for hydromet recovery of Platinum Group Metals, Liddell’s expertise is expected to significantly contribute to Cornish Lithium’s strategic operations and project development.
Cornish Lithium’s leadership transition and strategic appointments mark a pivotal moment as the company gears up to enhance its portfolio of mineral projects. With a renewed focus on leveraging its expertise and advancing its project development, the company is set to create substantial value for stakeholders and contribute to the sustainable extraction and development of critical minerals.
