Detectives have released an e-fit image of a man they want to trace following an attempted rape in Liskeard.

Woman Targeted in Woodland

At around 12pm on Thursday 27th March, a woman was walking in woodland in Lake Lane, Liskeard, when she became aware of two men following her. The pair began shouting abuse before catching up with her. One of the men then assaulted the woman and tried to pull down her trousers.

She managed to fight them off and escaped, seeking help from nearby members of the public.

Arrest Made but Public’s Help Needed

Detectives began an investigation as soon as the incident was reported. A 27-year-old man of no fixed abode has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape and remains in custody.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Max Smith said: “We have covered numerous enquiries, including CCTV trawls and house-to-house enquiries and we are now releasing this image with the hope that someone recognises the person pictured.”

Description of Suspect Released

The man pictured in the e-fit is described as a white man, aged in his early 20s, with a very thin build. He was wearing a matching navy tracksuit zipped up to the chin and featuring a large hood. He had a gaunt appearance and dark, sunken eyes.

Witness Appeal for Dog Walker

Police are also keen to trace a female dog walker who helped the victim immediately after the assault. She is described as being in her late 40s, with straight blond hair, wearing a multi-coloured jacket and walking three dogs.

Anyone who recognises the man in the e-fit or the dog walker is urged to contact police on 101 quoting 50250096349, or via the online form.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
