Interactive Open Morning Showcases Innovative Learning Experiences

Launceston Primary School, part of Athena Learning Trust, hosted an engaging Bear Hunt-themed open morning this month, attracting families eager to explore the school’s innovative educational offerings. The event, which combined fun-filled activities with a glimpse into the school’s unique learning environment, proved a hit with current and prospective families alike.

A Warm Welcome and an Adventure Awaits

Upon arrival, visitors were greeted by Principal Kate Eyre and Assistant Headteacher Mrs Green in the school hall. Each family received a map and a children’s stamp chart to guide them through an immersive Bear Hunt adventure.

From coding robots and cooking classes to storytelling sessions in the library, each room offered an interactive activity designed to delight young minds. Magnetic toys in the home room and clay modelling of bear paw prints added to the excitement, while a teleprompter activity in #TheHiveAV podcast suite captured imaginations.

For an extra thrill, children donned virtual reality headsets to see animated bears roaming the school hall—an innovative twist that left many impressed.

Positive Feedback and Growing Interest

The response from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many families expressing interest in joining the school community. This success has led to an influx of inquiries about the school’s facilities and educational approach.

“Whether attendees were considering joining our school community or already part of our family, this event was a memorable experience for everyone,” said Kate Eyre. “We were thrilled to show everyone the wonderful learning journey we offer our pupils.”

Kate emphasised the school’s commitment to delivering a world-class education: “All children have the right to a world-class education which is rich in aspiration, experience, discovery, play and wonder – and that is what we deliver at Launceston Primary School.”

A Bright Future for Launceston Primary School

Launceston Primary School, rated Good by Ofsted across key areas, continues to build on its strong foundation. Ofsted inspectors have highlighted the school’s successful learning environment and the staff’s determination to see all pupils succeed.

The school is also preparing to move to a purpose-built site, a development that promises to be a valuable asset for pupils, staff, and the wider community. Principal Kate Eyre and her team are eager to begin this new chapter.

In addition to the open morning, the school is hosting a community event to welcome local neighbours, answer questions, and provide further insight into its educational offerings.
