Truro Cathedral Welcomes New Dean: Canon Simon Robinson’s Installation

Truro Cathedral is preparing to welcome its sixth Dean, Canon Simon Robinson, in an auspicious installation ceremony scheduled for January 21. The Right Revd Hugh Nelson, Bishop of St Germans, will preside over this significant event.

Canon Simon’s Journey

Canon Simon Robinson’s association with Truro Cathedral began in October 2022 when he assumed the role of Interim Dean. His dedication and commitment have been evident, leading to his recent appointment as the Dean-Designate.

A Sermon of Note

During the installation service, Reverend Prebendary Stephen Stuckes, Rector of the Cuckmere Churches in the Diocese of Chichester, will deliver an inspirational sermon.

Musical Harmony

Truro Cathedral’s renowned choir will create a harmonious atmosphere with the performance of ‘Magnificat’ and ‘Nunc Dimitiis,’ compositions by the previous cathedral resident composer, Dobrinka Tabakova. These pieces hold special significance as they were chosen at Canon Simon’s request.

All Are Welcome

The installation ceremony is an open invitation to all who wish to partake in this celebratory event. Following the service, a reception with refreshments will provide an opportunity for attendees to mingle and connect.

Canon Simon’s Remarkable Journey

Canon Simon Robinson’s journey to Truro Cathedral includes his previous role as Vicar of Minehead, extensive leadership in the education sector, and participation in various church and community trust boards. He is also a national selector for ordination candidates.
