Callywith College Launches Female Boxing Exercise Project with Sport England Funding
Callywith College has announced an exciting development in their physical education offerings, revealing that Callywith Active has been awarded £1690 by Sport England’s ‘Small Grant Fund’. This funding is set to support the launch of a non-contact Female Boxing Exercise Project at the college.
The grant has facilitated the purchase of essential equipment for the project, including new boxing bags, gloves, pads, skipping ropes, and resistance bands. This array of equipment is expected to greatly enhance the experience and effectiveness of the exercise sessions offered to participants.
Julian Wills, the Lead of Callywith Active, shared insights into the goals and expectations for the project. It is specifically tailored to encourage young females at the college to participate in physical activities within a supportive and safe environment. The project aims not only to improve participants’ physical health but also to boost their mental wellbeing. By incorporating exercises that build confidence and self-belief, the program intends to demonstrate to young women that engaging in physical activity is an inclusive and beneficial pursuit.
Wills highlighted the transformative potential of the project, stating, “The project will empower our students to change their lifestyle behaviour, leading to a life that embraces and engages in physical activity.” This reflects the college’s commitment to fostering a holistic approach to health and wellbeing among its students, encouraging them to adopt active lifestyles.
The introduction of the Female Boxing Exercise Project at Callywith College underscores the institution’s dedication to creating diverse opportunities for physical engagement, with a specific focus on inclusivity and the promotion of health and confidence among young women.
