Treveth Celebrates Five Years of Transforming Cornwall’s Housing Landscape
Treveth, a Cornish developer established by Cornwall Council, is marking its fifth anniversary with a series of celebrations highlighting its commitment to sustainability and community-driven growth. Since its inception in 2019, the company has become a cornerstone of housing and commercial development in Cornwall, operating under the ethos of ‘In Cornwall, For Cornwall.’
A Growing Impact on Cornwall
In just five years, Treveth has made significant strides in addressing Cornwall’s housing needs. Managing Director Tim Mulholland expressed pride in the company’s achievements, saying:
“We’re proud of our positive impact on Cornwall’s housing supply and our commitment to delivering sustainable, energy-efficient developments that are future-proofed for generations to come.”
Currently, Treveth manages 170 properties across six developments and 48 commercial units spanning 10 sites, including 7,000m² of commercial workspace. With 375 homes under construction and plans for more than 600 additional homes in the pipeline, the company has become a leader in sustainable housing.
Sustainability at the Core
Treveth’s developments prioritise sustainability and energy efficiency. At Gwel Basset in Redruth, the company’s flagship project, all 185 homes are designed to meet the UK’s 2030 energy-saving targets. These homes feature fossil fuel-free heating systems and drastically reduced emissions, positioning the development as one of the nation’s leading low-carbon housing schemes.
The company has also implemented environmentally conscious practices at other sites, such as Bodmin’s Park Lanneves, where working with existing ground levels avoided 1,300 lorry movements for soil removal. A refurbishment in Pool further exemplified Treveth’s green approach, saving nearly 100 tonnes of carbon by retaining the original steel structure and foundations.
Marking a Milestone
To commemorate its fifth anniversary, Treveth has organised several events that reflect its values. These include:
- Tree planting at five development sites.
- A staff beach clean at Perranporth in September.
- A reception in October at its Truro offices, where staff, partners, and stakeholders reflected on the company’s achievements.
Transforming Cornwall’s Future
Treveth’s influence extends beyond housing. The company is the master developer for the Langarth Garden Village project, a major scheme designed to provide up to 4,000 homes, with 35% designated as affordable housing. Langarth aims to set a benchmark for sustainable community development, accommodating 8,000–10,000 residents.
The regeneration of Truro’s Pydar Street is another major undertaking, with Treveth spearheading the £220 million transformation. This mixed-use development will feature 320 homes, an academic campus, cultural spaces, and leisure facilities, creating a vibrant new neighbourhood.
Supporting Local Talent
Treveth’s growth has been mirrored by an expansion of its workforce. Since 2019, the team has grown from six employees to 38, including the company’s first apprentice, underscoring its dedication to nurturing local talent. Tim praised the team’s dedication, stating:
“Our rapid growth and the expansion of our portfolio in such a short time could not have been achieved without the dedication of our team and the unwavering support of our partners.”
