New Look for Helston Sports Centre: £50,000 Refurbishment Brings Fresh Vibe and New Fitness Options
Investment Transforms Helston Sports Centre
Helston Sports Centre, operated by GLL under the Better brand on behalf of Cornwall Council, has recently completed a vibrant refurbishment worth over £50,000. This investment has brought an array of new gym equipment and a refreshed atmosphere to the centre, enhancing the experience for visitors.
The completion of the refurbishment also marks the launch of a new fitness programme at the centre, with a range of new classes introduced to meet demand and an increase in staffing. As part of the upgrade, a new seniors’ activity session has been added to the schedule, providing even more opportunities for local residents to stay active.
Enhanced Facilities and New Programmes
GLL’s Senior General Manager, Amelia Kitchen, highlighted the importance of listening to customer feedback when shaping the new offerings. “It’s a really exciting time for Helston,” Amelia said. “We’ve listened to what our customers want, added new classes to meet popular demand and welcomed some brilliant new instructors.”
Among the new additions is a women’s only small group training session focused on strength training. Amelia explained that this class “provides an opportunity to learn the basics of strength training in a relaxed, welcoming environment and is proving very successful.” Additionally, a weekly senior’s club on Thursdays now offers low-impact classes, dedicated swimming sessions, and a chance to socialise over a cup of tea.
Community Support for Health and Fitness Investment
Local Cornwall Councillor for Helston North, Mike Thomas, a regular visitor to the centre, expressed his enthusiasm for the improvements. “I’m delighted to see such a great investment in health and fitness products at Helston Sports Centre,” said Mike. “The new kit is brilliant, and the whole gym feels fresh and vibrant. I encourage more people to reap the rewards of such a great project and look forward to seeing what may come in the future.”
Helston residents are invited to visit the centre to explore the new facilities and find a programme that suits their fitness needs. “We’re always happy for people to pop in, see what we offer and have a tour because, no matter what your age, experience, or health condition, moving more can help,” Amelia added.
This refurbishment signifies a strong commitment to health and wellness in Helston, providing an inclusive space that caters to a variety of fitness levels and interests.
