Help Plant 3,000 Trees This Weekend: Penrose National Trust Needs You!

Published On: 8 November 2024Last Updated: 8 November 2024By

Penrose National Trust team is calling for volunteers to join their first hedge planting event of the season on Saturday, 9th November, to help create new habitats along the scenic footpath at Gunwalloe. With a goal of planting 500 metres of hedgerow, volunteers of all ages are encouraged to join in this community-driven event.

A Day for Families and Volunteers

Penrose rangers and volunteer rangers will be present to guide participants in planting over 3,000 hedging plants along the footpath. This activity offers a hands-on experience in supporting local biodiversity and contributing to carbon capture. All tools will be provided, and the event is suitable for all ages, although children require adult supervision. With pleasant weather forecasted, it’s an ideal time to come out and take part.

Event Details

  • Meeting Point: National Trust car park at Gunwalloe, from where volunteers will follow signs to the site. The walk takes around 20 minutes, with rocky and rugged terrain.
  • What to Bring: Volunteers should wear wellies, warm clothing, and waterproofs, and bring their own drinks, refreshments, or lunch if they plan to stay the entire day.

Two bookable time slots are available for those interested, and participants in the morning session are welcome to stay for the full day.

For more information on the event and to book a slot, visit the National Trust website. Any additional questions can be directed to Project Officer Mike Hardy via mike.hardy@nationaltrust.org.uk.

This hedge planting event provides an opportunity for the local community to come together and support an environmental project that promises to leave a lasting impact.
