Have Your Say: The Future of Helston’s Hospital Cross Fields
The Helston Downsland Charity (HDC) is calling on residents to help shape the future of a cherished local green space. Known as ‘Hospital Cross Fields,’ this area opposite Helston Community Hospital is set to undergo a transformation, and the charity is seeking community input to guide the process.
A Green Space for the Community
HDC is exploring a variety of potential uses for the three fields, ranging from allotments and a wildlife space to a bike track or a herbal garden. The charity’s vision is to create a space that not only enhances the wellbeing of Helston residents but also fosters a deeper connection with nature and strengthens community bonds.
Melissa Benyon, Chair of HDC, emphasised the importance of preserving such green spaces. “Preserving green spaces has never been more important. They provide a vital refuge for both people and nature, offering mental and physical health benefits that are crucial in today’s world.”
How to Share Your Ideas
Residents of Helston are encouraged to have their say by filling out a quick online questionnaire, which can be accessed online here. For those who prefer a paper version, copies are available at the Guildhall in Helston.
The outcome of this community consultation will play a significant role in determining how the Hospital Cross Fields will be used and managed in the future. HDC is keen to ensure that the space meets the needs and desires of the local community, making it a valuable asset for all.
This is a unique opportunity for the people of Helston to influence the development of a significant local resource. By participating in the consultation, residents can help shape a green space that will benefit the community for years to come.
