Flambards Theme Park Closes Its Doors Permanently After Decades of Memories

Published On: 4 November 2024Last Updated: 4 November 2024By

Flambards Theme Park, a cherished attraction for generations, has announced its permanent closure with immediate effect. This difficult decision was made after exploring all potential options, acknowledging the profound impact it will have on the local community and the sense of loss it may evoke.

Challenges and Declining Viability

The current owners, who rescued the park from closure in 2012, have significantly invested in the park over the years. However, the combined challenges of rising costs and a gradual decline in visitor numbers have rendered continued operation and further investment unsustainable.

This year proved particularly difficult, as several older thrill rides were retired due to increasing challenges in sourcing specialised parts and the necessary maintenance expertise. Additionally, the Victorian Village exhibition, a popular feature of the park, now requires substantial remedial work and will remain closed while alternative options to preserve and honour this unique collection are explored.

A Glimmer of Hope: Ferdi’s Funland

Despite the closure of the main theme park, there is some positive news. Ferdi’s Funland, the indoor play centre, will re-open as a standalone attraction on 17th November. This reopening provides a familiar and welcoming space for younger visitors to continue enjoying play experiences.

A Heartfelt Farewell

Flambards expressed deep gratitude to its loyal supporters and the dedicated team who remained committed during challenging times. Their unwavering support helped make Flambards a special place for many. While the theme park’s legacy comes to an end, the memories and joy it brought to visitors will be remembered for years to come.
