Local Homebuilder’s Generous Donation Boosts Support for Kidney Patients
Barratt David Wilson Homes Donates £1,500 to Exeter and District Kidney Patients Association
In a significant act of community support, local homebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes has donated £1,500 to the Exeter and District Kidney Patients Association (EDKPA). This generous contribution is set to enhance the charity’s efforts in supporting kidney patients and their families across the South West.
Vital Support for Kidney Patients
EDKPA is committed to alleviating the suffering of those with kidney disease, particularly individuals undergoing treatment at the Exeter Kidney Unit and its satellite units in Cornwall, Devon, and Somerset. The charity’s work includes supporting research into kidney disease and its treatment, providing financial aid and practical assistance to patients and their families, purchasing medical equipment, and organising social events to build a sense of community.
Moreover, EDKPA collaborates with Citizens Advice in Exeter to offer a dedicated advice service, ensuring patients have access to necessary advocacy. The charity also facilitates patient participation in the British Transplant Games, an annual event celebrating organ transplantation, and supports patients through Kidney Beam, a platform offering exercise programmes tailored for renal patients.
A Grateful Community
Nicki Reid, Sales Director for Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for contributing to EDKPA. “We are delighted to contribute to the Exeter and District Kidney Patients Association. Their dedicated work in supporting kidney patients, and improving their treatment and care, is truly commendable. We hope this donation will make a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by kidney disease across the South West.”
Chris Rolfe, Chair of EDKPA, shared his gratitude for the donation. “We are incredibly grateful to Barratt for their generous donation. Contributions like these are crucial for us to continue providing financial support, practical assistance, and essential services to kidney patients and their families. With this support, we can further our efforts in all aspects of renal patient care.”
Continuing the Mission
EDKPA heavily relies on donations and legacies to sustain its activities. The charity is also on the lookout for new trustees to join its board and help steer future initiatives. Those interested in contributing their time and expertise to this worthy cause are encouraged to contact the Secretary at admin@edkpa.org.uk or Chris Rolfe at chris.rolfe@edkpa.org.uk.
