After the festive indulgence of Christmas, the New Year brings with it the challenge of fulfilling resolutions. Recognising this, Healthy Cornwall has launched a new campaign, “Get Healthy Cornwall,” aimed at supporting residents in their journey towards a healthier lifestyle.

Healthy Cornwall’s campaign addresses five key areas: Weight Management, Healthy Eating, Physical Activity, Stopping Smoking, and Healthy Pregnancy. Catering to all ages and abilities, the initiative offers a blend of information, tools, and advice.

In-Person and Digital Support

The campaign includes a variety of in-person programs such as the Argyle FIT – Weight Loss Football League, Free Kids Activity Clubs, Healthy Lifestyles Support sessions, and Walking for Health groups. Additionally, digital support is available through online healthy weight programs and a free Smokefree text message service.

Community and Motivation

Healthy Cornwall also fosters community support through Facebook groups and regular email tips, encouraging healthy eating, physical activity, and quitting smoking.

Leadership Endorsements

Dr. Ruth Goldstein, Assistant Director of Public Health at Cornwall Council, emphasises the convenience and accessibility of these healthy lifestyle programs, most of which are free. Cllr Dr. Andy Virr, portfolio holder for adults and public health, also praises the initiative for its comprehensive support in achieving healthy lifestyle goals and its positive impact on both physical and mental health.

The campaign is a call to action for the residents of Cornwall to explore the resources available on the Healthy Cornwall website, potentially leading to life-changing decisions.

For more information, residents are encouraged to visit the What’s On section of the Healthy Cornwall website.
