Better Leisure Centres in Cornwall to Host Open Weekend on 19th and 20th July
Better leisure centres across Cornwall will be hosting an open weekend on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July, with a packed programme of free tasters, health checks and special membership offers.
Something for Everyone
The weekend will have a strong summer focus on poolside activities, but there’s plenty more on offer. Visitors can try out swim school tasters, tennis sessions, gym workouts, and a variety of fitness classes.
Many centres will also be offering free health checks, with on-site health facilitators available to give personalised fitness advice and help tailor exercise plans.
Locations Taking Part
The open weekend is being run by GLL, the staff-owned charitable social enterprise that operates Better leisure centres on behalf of Cornwall Council. Centres involved are located in Bude, Saltash, Liskeard, St Austell, Bodmin, Newquay, Truro, Helston and St Ives.
Senior manager Amelia Kitchen said:
“We’re offering plenty of family fun this summer. At Helston Sports Centre, for example, we’ll be rolling out our inflatable aquarun – known as the Cornish Crusher – for two hours of high energy pool time on the Saturday.
“There will also be swim school tasters for babies, toddlers and older children, junior gym tasters, cardio and strength and conditioning masterclasses and health checks.
“Each centre has its own programme, and some activities will be free, whilst normal pricing applies for others. We’ll be offering special membership deals throughout the weekend too.
“Leisure centres are key assets for local communities and our teams work hard to provide opportunities for everyone, no matter what their age, to improve their mental and physical fitness in socially enjoyable ways.
“We anticipate a busy weekend so booking is open now on the Better website or through the Better app.”
