The Duke of Gloucester Visits The Cinnamon Trust in Hayle to Mark 40th Anniversary
His Royal Highness celebrates 40 years of a unique Cornish charity supporting people and their pets
On Friday 11th July, His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester made a special trip to Hayle to visit The Cinnamon Trust, marking the charity’s 40th anniversary. The visit paid tribute to four decades of support for older people, those with terminal illnesses, and their much-loved pets.
A Warm Welcome in Hayle
The Duke was greeted at the charity’s headquarters by long-serving staff, volunteers, local civic dignitaries and two corgis – a fitting nod to Cinnamon, the corgi who gave the Trust its name.
Mr Kim Conchie, Deputy Lieutenant, welcomed The Duke and presented him to Cllr Jeremy Martin, Mayor of Hayle; Mrs Tracy Martin, the Mayor’s Consort; Ms Eleanor Giggall, Clerk of Hayle Town Council; Mr John Dale, Chairman of the Trustees; and Mr Patrick Williams, Chief Executive at The Cinnamon Trust.
Patrick, who accompanied The Duke throughout the visit, said:
“We’re thrilled to have His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester visit The Cinnamon Trust for this meaningful milestone, shining a light on the incredible work, introduce The Duke with some of our remarkable volunteers and the precious companions they lovingly support every single day.”
Recognising a National Impact
During the visit, The Duke took time to meet staff responsible for the care of animals both at the charity’s headquarters and across its two sanctuaries. He also spoke with volunteers and trustees to learn more about the day-to-day work involved in delivering the charity’s services nationwide.
A Moment to Remember
To mark the occasion, The Duke unveiled a commemorative plaque celebrating the charity’s 40th year and joined staff and guests for a ceremonial cake cutting.
The visit acknowledged the lasting impact The Cinnamon Trust has had on communities across the UK since it was founded in 1985.
