The impact of the collision led to life-threatening injuries for a crew member positioned at the front of one of the boats.
The race, a highlight of the regatta week, was abruptly halted as the severity of the incident became apparent. Safety medics, who were already on site as part of the regatta’s safety measures, immediately responded to the injured crew member. The seriousness of the situation prompted a Mayday call, summoning Fowey’s all-weather lifeboat to the scene.
Swift Response by Fowey RNLI Lifeboat Crew
